The DeYoung Family Zoo is an organization that opened to the public in 1990. This zoo focuses on exotic felines and gives each visitor the opportunity to interact with these magnificent creatures. This zoo is unique because it is hands on and all of the animals are very responsive. Personal attention is given to each animal as well as to each guest. Questions are always welcomed and encouraged. In order to raise these endangered species Mr. DeYoung has obtained special licensing and is inspected regularly. Breeding and raising these animals requires the utmost of care and patience. Special formulas, vaccinations, and housing are just a few of the necessities needed in raising tigers, leopards and lions. Responsible volunteers play a major role in the rearing of young animals. However, Mr. DeYoung is the primary care taker and provides the animals with clean and natural enviroment. All of the carnivores are fed a balanced diet of fresh road kill deer (picked up and delivered daily - sometimes several times a day by MB Wildlife Services Deer Removal Contractor of Menominee County -- A humongous thanks to Michael Brown for his dedication!!) and dairy cows (provided by local farmers). These big cats are fed roughly 2,000 pounds of meat per week. Mr. DeYoung hopes to one day have a complete zoo including all the big cats. We are growing so rapidly that we need all the funding we can get.
We now have many new animals, including Russian bears, wolf pups, coyote, Bennetts Wallabies, Ringtailed Lemurs, Leopards, two white Tigers {one is a baby you can get a color 8 x 10 photo printed of you and your family with while you wait}, a Wild Mustang, a new baby Coatimundis, Carson the baby camel, a baby Yak, and who knows what new baby will show up next? Our Petting Zoo for the kids has grown by leaps and bounds, and the little ones adore feeding the baby goats, Clyde the dromedary Camel and Molly the Z-Donk.
Come visit us soon!!
Thank You
